Microsoft has been reportedly working on a next-gen Xbox console codenamed “Lockhart,” for months now. The latest reports suggest that the corporation’s gaming division will fully reveal the console in August 2020.
Eurogamer claims that Microsoft’s original plan was to unveil the console in June 2020 and name it Xbox Series S.
Microsoft intends the console to be cheaper than the Xbox Series X and a leaked document sheds more light on the company’s plans. The document was posted by a Twitter user and makes a legitimate case for the existence of “Lockhart”, although Microsoft still hasn’t officially acknowledged the console.

Microsoft’s Xbox Series X devkit, codenamed “Dante,” allows game developers to enable a special Lockhart mode which shows a profile of the performance that Microsoft wants to hit the Series S console.
The Verge also reports that Lockhart’s performance will include a slightly underclocked CPU. However, suggestions are that it will actually have the same speed CPU as the Xbox Series X. The report adds that Lockhart console will have 7.5GB of usable RAM and around 4 teraflops of GPU performance. For comparison, the Xbox Series X has 13.5GB of usable RAM and targets 12 teraflops of GPU performance.
According to reports, Microsoft could reveal the console in August 2020 alongside the pricing for the Xbox Series X. Lockhart is designed as a more affordable option of the Series X
