One of Hollywood’s most decorated actresses Meryl Streep has revealed she had a horrible time filming the iconic 2000s film, “The Devil Wears Prada”.Streep who played Miranda Priestly, a powerful fashion magazine editor made the reveal at the film’s 15-year reunion with Entertainment Weekly.
“It was horrible! I was miserable in my trailer,” she told Entertainment Weekly, “i could hear [the cast and crew] all rocking and laughing, I was so depressed!” I said, ‘Well, it’s the price you pay for being boss’.”
She added, “That’s the last time I ever attempted a Method thing!”
Method acting is a type of acting technique where the actor must stay in character even after the cameras stopped rolling.
The 2006 film however earned Streep an Oscar, more than enough compensation for her troubles no doubt.
Meryl Streep’s hatred for the role was not the only big reveal at the reunion. Hard as it might be for many to picture the film without Anne Hathaway, she wasn’t the first person considered for the role.
Rachel McAdams was actually the actress whom the studio wanted to play Andy but she turned down the offer three times.
“The studio was very determined to have Rachel star in that movie,” David Frankel, the film’s director said during the online gathering. “And she was very determined not to do it.”
Anne Hathaway who finally got the part was not second on the list. In fact, she was ninth on the list.

“It spoke to me. It made me feel, It was about a subject that I take very seriously, but in such a wonderfully joyful and lighthearted way,” Hathaway said of her character.
Meryl Streep was also instrumental in getting her the role.“Meryl was eager to make the movie, and she said ‘Let me meet with her,’ ” Frankel told Entertainment Weekly. ” ‘Brokeback Mountain’ was about to come out. Annie had a wonderful, small role in that. And Meryl watched that scene from the movie, she met with her and called up Tom Rothman at Fox and said, ‘Yeah, this girl’s great, and I think we’ll work well together.’“
On how she felt about scoring the role, Hathaway said; “I remember the moment I found out I got the part: I just ran screaming through my apartment,” she said. “I had a bunch of friends over at the time, I just jumped up in the living room and screamed, ‘I’m going to be in “The Devil Wears Prada!” ‘ I just had a feeling that it was gonna be huge.”
The Devil Wears Prada” became the 12th highest-grossing film of 2006. It also became a reference point not just in fashion but pop culture in general.
