Nigeria is arguably the hub of music in Africa so it’s no surprise the country also boasts a good number of prominent DJs.
Not only is disc jockeying a solid career these days, but it’s also promising as DJs rack in a healthy amount of income.
This piece is spotlighting some of the best DJs in Nigeria.
DJ Badoo
Godwin Egbe aka DJ Badoo is one of Nigeria’s most popular DJs. Badoo was a blogger and a music promoter before he transitioned into fully becoming a DJ. He’s collaborated with several Nigerian artistes and he’s known as a strong force in Nigeria’s music promotion frontiers.
DJ Humility
Birth name Ben Afagbe, Dj Humility is one of Nigeria’s most talented DJs especially in the genres of hip hop and rap. Young Ben grew up in the barracks lost his dad in 2005. He’s gone on to do quite well for himself, building a successful disc jockeying career. He was also nominated for the Best DJ awards.
DJ Cuppy
Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola aka DJ Cuppy is a Nigerian DJ and music producer. She’s the daughter of billionaire and oil magnate, Femi Otedola.
Cuppy established herself as DJ in Nigeria and Africa after going on a tour in over eight countries of the continent. Cuppy who interned at Jay Z’s Roc Nation holds a degree in Music Business from the University of New York.
She has some songs under her genre which she calls Neo-afrobeat. They include “Vibe”, “The Way I Am”, “Abena”, and her most recent “Gelato” with Zlatan.
DJ Big N
DJ Big N is both a DJ and a recording artist. Birth name Nonso Temisan Ajufo, Big N is signed to Mavins records and has collaborated with several major Nigerian artists. He started his career DJing in the UK where he bagged an MBA degree. He got his big break when he played for the Nigerian independence party held in Conventry, UK. Big N has performed alongside acts like Kool and the Gang, Maxi Priest, Dru Hill, Billy Ocean, and Joe and others. He’s currently the official DJ for Mavin Records. He currently has a song “Ife” with Teni and Don Jazzy.
DJ Lambo
Olawunmi Okerayi is one of the biggest female DJs in Nigeria. She won the DJ of the year (female) in City’s people award 2016 and has played in major events in Africa and beyond.
DJ Consequence
Akeredolu Precious Pelumi aka DJ Consequence is amongst Nigeria’s most talented DJs. He took interest in music at a young age and was music prefect in his secondary school. Consequence who’s worked for several radio stations is currently the official DJ for Sound City FM. He’s also popular for his mixtapes which have received thousands of downloads.
Consequence also has some hit tracks to his name including “In A Benz”, “Blow The Whistle”, “Assignment.” He is also known as “The Vibes Machine”.
DJ Spinall
Sodamola Oluseyi Desmond aka Dj Spinall shot to fame while working as a radio Dj at Ray Power FM in 2004. He quickly rose up the ranks and is now one of the country’s most prominent DJs. He’s the official Dj for artist Wande Coal and has songs collaboration to his name, including the hit song “Ohema” with Mr. Eazi. He is famous for his stylish colorful hat “The Cap” which he traces back to his roots. It has since become a significant part of his brand identity.

Dj Neptune
Dj Neptune is one of the most successful DJs in Nigeria. Born Omohiosen Patrick, Dj Neptune hails from Edo state but grew up in Lagos. He began his career working with Ray Power FM and later switched to Disc jockeying. DJ Neptune has bagged several awards and Including nomination for the best DJ at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) hosted in New York in 2008. His recent song with Mr Eazi and Joe Boy ” Nobody” is currently enjoying massive airplay.
DJ Jimmy Jatt
Oluwaforijimi Adewale Amu aka Dj Jimmy Jatt is one of Nigeria’s pioneer DJs who made disc jockeying into a lucrative career in the country. He started off as a rapper under the name Master J but failed to secure a record deal which caused him to switch to Djing. Jimmy Jatt became popular as a DJ when he hosted a street carnival “Road Block” which featured lyrical battles from young and coming rappers. In 2007, he released a mixtape titled “definition” featuring top musicians like Tuface, mode 9, sound sultan, Rugged Man, 9ice, and others. The song “Stylee” from the mixtape album featuring vocals from Tuface went to secure nominations in Channels O Music Awards Video Edition. Jimmy Jatt is highly respected for pushing hip hop in Nigeria’s music industry.
DJ Xclusive
DJ Exclusive is Nigeria’s richest and arguably, biggest DJ. Born Rotimi Alakija, the DJ has performed alongside huge foreign artistes including Neyo, Rihanna, Brick & Lace, Mario Winans, and a host of others. He’s also a music producer and artist and is the highest-paid DJ in Nigeria.
