Acer has released a new range of laptops and tablets that it prides as rugged and calls them, Enduro. The company says Enduro was designed for the outdoors and from the name, to survive extreme conditions.

Whilst the laptops and tablets are designed to be portable to carry around, Acer claims the products can survive drops, extreme temperatures, and water exposure.

For now, the only laptop available in the Enduro line is the N3. Acer says it designed the Enduro N3 with workers who work in multiple locations in mind, like architects and event planners. It is 14 inches wide and 0.98 inches thick. At almost 2kg, it’s not the lightest laptop in the market, however, it is still very light.

“With an increasingly modern workforce, more and more mobile devices are being deployed in the field where they are subject to harsher handling. Enduro, our new line of rugged notebooks and tablets, was created to provide our customers with the durability and performance that gets the job done,” Andrew Chuang, Acer’s general manager of rugged computing, said in a statement.

In a press conference, the company testers put an Enduro model in a shower, then in the demonstration afterward, it was still fully functional with the backlit keyboard still working fine.

The N3 has MIL-STD 810G and IP53 certifications. The MIL-STD 810G certifications guarantee durability from incidents like shocks, drops, and vibrations. While IP53 guarantees it can withstand certain quantities of dust and spraying water. Acer says the Enduro N3 has what it calls an Aquafan, a tool that lets it repel water from all angles from inside the laptop.

The N3 comes with a 10th Gen Core i7 processor, 32GB RAM (DDR4), and 512GB SSD storage. There’s also an optional Nvidia MX230 GPU as well.

There’s also an Enduro N7 laptop, however, Acer has not mentioned a release date yet. The N7 comes with two batteries to handle long use and each can handle up to 10 hours on a single charge. It also has a fingerprint sensor and comes with an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U.

Enduro Tablets

Acer also launched two 10-inch Windows tablets in the Enduro series. One is an Acer Enduro T5 with 10-hours of battery life and a 7th Gen Intel Core m3 processor, and the other, an Enduro T1, with an optional portfolio keyboard and Intel Celeron processor. The Enduro T1 also has an 8-inch option.
