After “Avengers: Endgame” finally arrived, Marvel Studio’s decade-long 22 films finally came to an end. However, there’s more to expect with the upcoming “Spider-Man: Far From Home” hitting the cinemas in July. It has been confirmed that Spider-Man would finish off Phase Three of the Marvel film saga.

The first phase introduced six original Avengers: Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. Then Phase 2 introduced the Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man while delving into the relationship the originals share. Next, the third phase introduced Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Captain Marvel.

However, this knowledge has fans wondering what to expect from Phase Four. After the death of Iron Man and Black Widow, and with Captain Man finally getting old, Marvel will shift focus away from the older characters. All the core heroes like Thor and the Hulk won’t be in the spotlight anymore. The goal is to further develop more heroes and to introduce new ones.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Release date: 2nd July 2019

This is the only confirmed date from Marvel. In “Spider-man: Far From Home”, Peter Parker struggles to deal with the death of his hero and mentor, Iron Man (played by Tony Stark). He heads to Europe for a school-sponsored trip. Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) comes visiting, pressuring him to become the future of the Avengers. Now, we know the old heroes are no longer in the spotlight. Mysterio is also introduced here, and he explains to Peter Parker that he’s from a different Earth that’s part of a multiverse. Now, we’re close to getting re-introduced to the X-Men by Marvel Studios. So, yes, the X-Men are returning.

Black Widow

Potential release date: 1st May 2020

In Endgame, we know Black Widow sacrifices herself to obtain the Soul Stone and defeat Thanos. However, Marvel still wants the fierce lady in its stories. So, in Black Widow, fans will explore the character’s mysterious past. Black Widow is a woman who first stepped into the role of the deadly assassin in “Iron Man 2”. It will feature Rachel Weisz, David Harbour and Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanov. In the stand-alone film, we’ll see the original story of how KGB spy assassin Natasha Romanoff becomes an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and, ultimately, an Avenger.

The Eternals

Potential release date: 2020

The Eternals have different types of power and can also regenerate after being destroyed. They were Earth’s original protectors and often battled with the Deviants who have similar powers to the Eternals. It’s based on the comic series, and Matthew and Ryan Ferpo were hired in 2018 to write the screenplay. Production is also set to kick-off in 2019 with Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden rumoured to star in the film.

Black Panther 2

Potential release date: 2021

The president of Marvel, Kevin Feige, says Black Panther 2 is “absolutely” going to happen. Also, the original Black Panther is one of the highest-grossing solo film in the MCU, with only the Avengers films topping it. Black Panther 2 is rumoured to go into production in late 2019 or early 2020.

Doctor Strange 2

Potential release date: 7th May 2021

This was the first character to introduce magic in Marvel Studio and is likely one of the three films coming in 2021. From part one, Dormammu promised to leave Earth alone, while Doctor Strange’s friend, Karl Mordo, turns to the dark side. We wonder if this sequel will have Nightmare as a villain who feeds off humanity’s dreams to survive. Chiwetel Ejiofor may also have a role in the film as Mordo. Its production will reportedly begin in 2020, while its release will be in 2021.

Shang Chi

Potential release date: 2021

This will be Marvel’s first Asian superhero. The diversity is a great addition as he is a master of Kung fu. However, he doesn’t have any superpowers in the comic. Marvel is in the pre-production process for Shang Chi and has attached Destin Daniel Cretton to direct and David Callaham to write the script.

When Kevin Feige spoke about the X-Men, he revealed the following:

“It’ll be a while [before we see the X-Men]. It’s all just beginning and the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set. So really it’s much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where [the X-Men will appear] right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they’re home. That they’re all back. But it will be a very long time.”

We hope you are ready to be thrilled by the Marvel films in the fourth phase.
