Reports confirm that Luke Wood is stepping down from his role as President of Beats by the end of April 2020 and Apple Music and International Content vice president Oliver Schusser will take over from him.
CNET had initially reported the story after getting wind of it from an inside source. While Apple had not officially confirmed the story, CNET reports that “Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, told Apple employees about the transition via email in recent weeks.”
Luke Wood had joined Beats in 2010, four years after Andre Romelle Young, known as Dr. Dre, and Jimmy Iovine had founded it. His departure now means the three heads that had been at the company when Apple bought it, have now left. As Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine departed the company years ago.
Wood had been the brains behind the birth of Beats Music — which brought about Apple Music as well. It is not clear why Beats president is stepping down at this time.

However, reports confirm that Apple is not planning to scrap Beats’ product line anytime soon. This is despite the fact that it seems they are each other’s direct competitors in music electronic equipment department.
For example, there are rumours that Apple is working on over-ear wireless headphones with swappable parts. This may rival Beats headphones that are popular in the market.
Yet, Apple assures fans of Beats that the company is not going to be history as yet. Apple had bought Beats in 2014 and have since kept the business flourishing.
Part of what the leaked internal email said was: “[Apple] is committed to the Beats brand and the importance of maintaining its role firmly in the music portfolio”.
In addition to this, Apple senior vice president of internet software and services Eddy Cue, who had sent the mail, said that Oliver Schusser is “passionate about music and the Beats brand”.
It remains to be seen how Beats will fair now that it is solely in the hands of an Apple-built executive.
