Long Starlink Orders Await Customers Who Interfere With Delivery Location

Lots of Starlink customers are experiencing long delivery times after interfering with their delivery locations.  The company released a preorder service in February with plans to support rural areas.

There’s currently an issue that’s delaying customers Starlink orders, users who moved their locations on the site would experience long delays. Some customers have had their deliveries lengthen to as much as 2023.

This was first seen by Ars Technica, as one user said  “I moved it from the end of my driveway to my house this morning and just looked back and it had changed to 2022-2023.”

So what could be causing this? Ars Technica says that Starlink recently made some changes to its site. This change prompted customers and users to update to a more precise location.

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX says that Starlink’s internet service would move out of its beta phase by October 2021. The Founder initially said this feat would happen when the internet service reaches a certain threshold “possibly over 500,000 users within 12 months.”

The Starlink public beta test started in October 2020. The public transition would provide the company with solid 12 months of beta testing. Musk vision of his internet service would provide low-cost bandwidth to users in rural places and remote communities.

Interestingly, the low-cost internet service is one of the fastest around. It has the capacity to reach 100Mbps download and an achievable 20Mbps upload speed.

The company now serves about 12 countries with its internet connectivity. To sign up, simply visit its website and input your service address.

There’s a caveat though, “Depending on location, some orders may take six months or more to fulfil.” So actual shipment might take a lot longer to arrive.

The change in the Starlink Map tool made delivery worse to the point that a user said “I moved the location from my barn to my house which is literally 13 feet in real-time and now I’m mid to late 2022.”
