“Living In Bondage: Breaking Free” Gross ₦25.8 Million In Its First Week

Nollywood film “Living In Bondage: Breaking Free” has displaced “Terminator: Dark Fate” to gross ₦25.8 million in its first week. The Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria revealed the achievements of “Living in Bondage: Breaking Free” in its first weekend across 47 locations.

 

“Terminator: Dark Fate” comes next to the Nollywood sequel at ₦12.6 million in its second week while “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” “Gemini Man” and “Joker” grossed ₦8.2 million, ₦2.4 million and ₦2.1 million respectively.

 

The Nollywood sequel leads cinemas across West Africa to emerge the first Nollywood film to break the record.

.”Living In Bondage: Breaking Free” marks Ramsey Nouah’s directorial debut in Nollywood. Experts predict that the fill will gross N250 million in the next 13 weeks. Kemi Adetiba’s ‘King Of Boys’ currently holds that record.

 

In 2015, veteran actor Ramsey Nouah secured the rights to “Living In Bondage” from Kenneth Nnebue. He expressed his plans to film the remake in Europe and America as well as Nigeria. The news was later confirmed on Instagram but appeared to be in development for three years.

 

In 2018, Nouah announced his remake had become a sequel now titled “Living in Bondage: Breaking Free”. The film debuted in cinemas across Nigeria on 8th November 2019.

 

Ramsey Nouah, who plays the new cult chief priest, makes his directorial debut, with original actors Okwonkwo, Udokwu, and Kanayo also making appearances.
