Linda Ikeji Inspires Women, Gives Grants Worth Millions In Self-Made Conference

Billionaire blogger Linda Ikeji hosted women at her 2021 self-made conference on Saturday 19th June 2021.

The event held at the Balmoral Hall of Federal Place Hotel Lagos and was packed full with women of all ages, hungry to be inspired by women who were doing great in different spheres of life.Photos from 2021 Selfmade Woman conference

Dr Ola Brown head of the Flying doctors opened the event. Speaking, she demystified some common myths about women.Photos from 2021 Selfmade Woman conferenceSome of these myths suggest that women are lazy. Others say women don’t help themselves and women lack expertise.

Dr Ola debunked these myths explaining that women carry out at least two and half times more unpaid household and care work than men.

She reiterated that women are not too emotional to lead as she cited examples of female presidents who are developing their economies in the midst of COVID-19.

Investment coaches Tomi Balogun and Sola Adesakin took time to explain what investment and savings mean in the second section.

They both explained that investing starts with your ability to earn and when you earn better, you invest more. Investing is putting your money to work, so you don’t work all ypur life.  They advised women to make manage and multiply their finances.

Coach Nnadi of Agunancy Telecomms started business from an early age. She advised women to dream big even if they were born poor.

Nancy Nnadi called on young female entrepreneurs to start early and market their products shamelessly. She emphasized the need to see failure as simply feedback.

Tara Durutoye of Tara cosmetics talked about women collaborating and helping each other achieve greatness. She revealed how she started her makeup brand and got her first ₦40 million loan.

In ending her speech, she explained that teaching others does not dim your light. She called on women to start small, dream big and grow fast.Photos from 2021 Selfmade Woman conferenceThe show ended with an electrifying performance by Seyi Shay who performed her hit songs “Yolo”, “Hold me” and her latest single “Pempe”.

Ecobank, the sponsors of the self-made conference unveiled their elevate campaign aimed at giving loans to women with small scale business.

Linda Ikeji started the Selfmade Woman Conference in 2013 as an advocacy project. The sole aim of the annual event is to mentor and provide financial empowerment to young female entrepreneurs and aspiring ones.

At the end of the event, four female entrepreneurs went home with ₦1.5 million worth of grant after they were given time to pitch their business plan.
