Stories have been making rounds about Apple making an over-ear headphone and recently, some of its alleged features have leaked online.
First, it is important to recall that Apple owns Beats. Beats is an electronic sound accessory company that focuses on making over-ear headphones and speakers.
Since Apple bought the company, it has been on a steady rise. Beats is not a neglected project but one that its parent company, Apple, keeps improving.
Apple, on the other hand, has another line of business that concerns sound electronics accessories. This arm of Apple’s large enterprise is responsible for making AirPods.
According to the rumours, the AirPods’ team will be in charge of the alleged over-hear headphones. It is likely that Apple is trying to have more products in this particular market than trying to kill-off the Beats brand.
However, for now, nothing is really certain, except that in the tech world, rumours have a high potential to be true.

Leaks that come from unidentified sources inside Apple mention that the headphones will have a retro look with ear cups shaped like ovals. Also, the headband will be connected to the cups with thin metal arms.
An article on 9to5Mac that quotes Bloomberg as a source claims that Apple’s coming headphones will have two versions. It says:
“A premium version with “leather-like fabrics” and a “fitness-focused model that uses lighter, breathable materials with small perforations.”
It adds that they will likely have touch controls to allow users access functions like playback.
Also, the report further claims that the ear pads and headbands would be “magnetically detachable”. This means that users can change ear pads and headbands as well.
9to5Mac mentions that the over-ear headphones will use H1 chip for “fast pairing and switching between devices”. It likely will support “Hey Siri” usage.
Other interesting rumoured features are noise cancellation technology and Transparency mode. While the former restricts unnecessary noises, the latter allows users to hear sound from their surroundings via an external microphone.
Like its many other specifications, Apple’s rumoured over-ear headphones’ price is not yet available. But it is likely to cost more than the AirPods and Beats Headphones, so, we may be looking a price well into the $300 range.
