Kunle Afolayan’s “Anikulapo” Fails To Make Oscars Nomination List

Kunle Afolayan’s newly released movie, “Anikulapo” could not make the nomination list of the Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars.

Despite the global reception that Kunle Afolayan’s Anikulapo has received since its release, the Academy Awards does not deem it worthy to make its nomination list.

The Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, are awards for artistic and technical merit in the American and international film industry. The awards are regarded by many as the most prestigious, significant awards in the entertainment industry worldwide.

Expressing his disappointment on his Instagram page, Kunle Afolayan wrote “I am so pleased and delighted that the whole world has decided to tag ANIKULAPO film a masterpiece even though the Nigeria Oscar selection committee think its not worth submitting for the Oscars. Will keep doing my own thing”.

Kunle Afolayan’s “Anikulapo” dropped on Netflix on Friday September 30th. In the film Kunle Remi plays (Saro) an aso-ofi weaver from Gbogan, who journeys to Oyo to start a new life. There he is entangled with lust, and the desire to make it. However, his love for women would make him make decisions that he will regret, even when he is not ready to face the consequence of his actions.

“Anikulapo” is still trending on Netflix.
