What is this? Keanu Reeves against… himself? What a lovely day to look forward to! 21st May 2021 will feature the opening of two major Keanu Reeves action films. You read that right.

It was initially stated that Reeves will return as the dog-loving hitman in Lionsgate Studio’s “John Wick 4” on a weekend in May 2021. Then, on Wednesday 11th December 2019, Warner Bros. Studios announced that Reeves will return in the still-untitled “Matrix 4” on the same day.

Take a look at time-bending Neo in “The Matrix”.

Now, take a look at him as John Wick.

The co-creator of the record-breaking “The Matrix”, Lana Wachowski, will write, direct and produce the upcoming film. The original “Matrix” film is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, and this is great news for its fans.

But the news is not all rosy. In a May Indiewire interview, Chad Stahleski, who has directed all three “John Wick” films, warned against hoping for the hitman to come out with a happy ending in the fourth film, or ever.

Stahelski said:

“John may survive all this (expletive) but at the end of it, there’s no happy ending. He’s got nowhere to go. Honestly, I challenge you right now, here’s a question to you: How do you (expletive) want me to end it? Do you think he’s going to ride off into the (expletive) sunset? He’s killed 300 (expletive) people and he’s just going to [walk away], everything’s okay? He’s just going to fall in love with a love interest? If you’re this (expletive) guy, if this guy really exist[ed], how is this guy’s day going to end? He’s (expletive) for the rest of his life. It’s just a matter of time.”

Nevertheless, it is rare to have a film with a major leading man like Reeves opening against another film with the same star. But this all could turn into one big Keanu Reeves Day party.

We can’t wait to watch Keanu Reeves kick robot bu*t and then beat up some assassins in two different films. Sounds like an incredible date, doesn’t it?
