Veteran actor Kanayo O Kanayo says filmmakers had to rent meals for movie shoots in the early days of Nollywood.
In an Instagram post, the actor while in a movie set with actress Regina Daniels says food was just a prop.
“When I saw this, I remembered when we started this career with the NTA. This is props. If you ever ate it at the time, you’ve eaten your artist fee. It was rented from the canteen,” the Nollywood star said, holding up a piece of meat.

In 1992, Kanayo had his acting debut in “Living in Bondage”. The two-part film today is regarded as one of the earliest successes in Nigeria’s film production history. The Imo-born actor would go on to star in over 100 movies.

Earlier in January, the actor addressed the impression some people have of him as a ritualist because of his several reprisals of similar roles
In an interview with Saturday Beats, he said things like that did not bother him.
“Many of our youths are not focused and they see social media as a place to get back at some people. The most unfortunate thing is that they abuse the privilege they have. Even people who cannot speak before one now think they have the opportunity to rubbish one. However, those things don’t affect me because if one has got to a particular stage in life, there are people one should not respond to,” he said.
