Jordan Peele’s “US” Trailer Might Have You Wetting Your Pants

There’s horror that’s obvious, and then there’s Jordan Peele’s elevated horror film, US. It is a follow-up to the horror film Get Out, a gruesome one which faced both critical and commercial success. US starts by capturing the attention of the audience with a normal story. Then comes the macabre, the grotesque, a shameless penchant for blood and guts and jump-scares. Are you ready for US?

Jordan Peele is a writer-director who is fast becoming a great horror auteur.

The film stars Lupita Nyong’o as Adelaide Wilson, wife to Gabe (Winston Duke) and mother to Zora (Shahadi Wright Joseph) and Jason (Evan Alex).

Synopsis

The film opens in 1986, with a young Adelaide (Madison Curry) visiting the Santa Cruz boardwalk with her parents and wandering off to take a self-guided tour of a creepy house of mirrors. This is where she has a traumatic encounter with what appears to be her double.

Then years pass, and the young Adelaide goes through therapy to deal with the trauma. Although she doesn’t necessarily forget it, she appears to be in control of the emotions triggered by the memory.

Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen.

Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, the family is horrified to learn that each attacker takes the appearance of one of them.
