Jaw-dropping Trailer Of Film Adaptation Of Monster Hunter Game Shows Promise

Eight years after rumours of a film adaptation for video game, Monster Hunter, surfaced, we have finally seen the trailer; and it is a jaw-dropping reveal.

The fantasy-themed fiction role-playing video game, Monster Hunter, has garnered its own fans. As of June 2020, the game series has sold over 64 units worldwide. Capcom developed and published the game and it began running on PlayStation 2 in 2004 before coming to other consoles later.

On Wednesday 14th October 2020, PlayStation Tweeted the first official trailer of the Monster Hunter film from its handle. See video in Tweet below:

We see Milla Jovovich in all her glory leading the pack of the action fantasy-themed film. According to the production team, the Monster Hunter film will drop on 30th December 2020 in the US. Sony Pictures Releasing will handle distribution along with China’s Tencent Pictures and Toho in Japan.

Tony Jaa, Clifford ‘T.I.’ Harris, Jr., Meagan Good, Diego Boneta, Josh Helman, Jin Au-Yeung, and Ron Perlman all star in the film. The trailer shows impressive action scenes, snappy dialogues and other-worldly weapons.

We are betting on Monster Hunter film adaptation being a massive success. While film-adaption of video games have rarely succeeded, the director Paul W. S. Anderson, had successfully run the Resident Evil series. We can also say the same thing about Milla Jovovich on the same franchise.

The crew filmed Monster Hunter in 2018 in and around Cape Town and the rest of South Africa. Mr. X VFX studio worked on the special effects, it was the same studio that worked with the Resident Evil crew. Come 30th December 2020, we will be able to watch the full film.
