James Baker Vetting Twitter Files Hints At FBI Involvement

The latest saga from the Twitter files drama is that former FBI and now ex-Twitter lawyer, James Baker, had been involved in vetting the documents before they got to the hands of journalists who the new management picked.

According to one of them named Matt Taibbi, Baker’s involvement was unknown to Elon Musk. After the news broke on the platform, the tech billionaire confirmed that he had fired the lawyer for being unable to convince him of his innocence in the matter.

“Baker is a controversial figure. He has been something of a Zelig of FBI controversies dating back to 2016, from the Steele Dossier to the Alfa-Server mess. He resigned in 2018 after an investigation into leaks to the press,” Taibbi had tweeted.

The independent journalist who publishes reports on his Substack forum TK News by Matt Taibbi explained that Baker vetting the documents was responsible for the next installment of the Twitter Files series. He added that with the lawyer now out of the way, they could resume search for the files through the company materials available to them.

Baker’s involvement has been said to hint at a collaboration between the FBI and Twitter on covering the Hunter Biden laptop story. In the wake of the drama, the usually quiet Twitter co-founder, Jack Dorsey, weighed in on the matter.

“If the goal is transparency to build trust, why not just release everything without filter and let people judge for themselves? Including all discussions around current and future actions? Make everything public now,” Dorsey tweeted in reply to Musk’s comment about need more time to review the files.
