Top Nollywood Yoruba actress Iyabo Ojo, has received nominations in two categories for the Yoruba Music and Films Awards (YOMAFA).
The actress made the announcement on her Instagram page on Tuesday 29th June 2021. While sharing two e-fliers she announced she received a nod in the “Best Actress 2020/2021” and “Worlds’ Most Relentless Influential Act 2020/2021” categories.
For the “Best Actress” category, Ojo is up against film stars like Toyin Abraham, Wunmi Toriola, Jumoke Odetola, Eniola Ajao, Mide Martins, and Bukunmi Oluwashina. The winner will be determined by e-voting.

Iyabo Ojo recently trended on the internet after a video the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) press conference went viral.

At the meeting, executives of TAMPAN had directed all directors under its guild to desist from working with Iyabo Ojo and Nkechi Blessing.
“Our local chapters are disciplined. If you look at the number of practitioners that are misbehaving now, you cannot count ten. We’re about to have some black sheep. As soon as we detect them, we will know what to do.
We have penalties. Even if the law says you’re free to practice, we can frustrate you out of the industry.” Actor Jide Kosoko said at the press conference.
The reason why TAMPAN took this step against Iyabo Ojo may not be far from her involvement in the child defilement case against actor Olarenwaju Omiyanka aka Baba Ijesha.
In her response, Ojo, vowed to maintain her stance on the Baba Ijesha saga, adding that nobody can silence her.
