The launch date itself is September 7, 2022, and the event is expected to include the announcement of several other hardware and the iOS 16. Although, there are rumours that Apple will hold at least one more event on that same date, likely, to divide the products launch.

So far, we have from reliable sources that the company would announce Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Series 8 Pro, Apple Watch SE, AirPods Pro (2nd Gen), Apple TV 4K, iPad (10th Gen), M2 iPad Pro, 14/16″ MacBook Pro, M2 Mac Mini, and Mac Pro.

With this rich list of products, it is not surprising that Apple would want to split events to ensure that nothing is lost.

Apple would start selling the iPhone 14 officially on September 16, 2022. Expect that there would be a frenzy to coop the device as statistics show that many customers have confirmed that they would be buying it.
