Here’s what’s changed in iOS 16 voice message

iOS 16 is changing how you use the iPhone, and here, you will learn about the new features of its voice message service.

Of course, you’ve likely heard about the option to unsend a message and edit it. That is not everything that the new operating system has up its sleeves.

The small microphone icon by the right of the text field in the Message app is not for voice messaging. If you tap on that, you will get the voice-to-speech or dictation feature, which is useful for those times you can’t be bothered to do the typing yourself.

However, if you long-press it in the hope that it will help you record audio, the device will show you where the audio message button is; in the app drawer.

To access it, tap on the App drawer by the left of the text field and tap on the voice icon, which is aptly represented by a wave. You can choose to tap or hold the button to record the voice message.

However, if you choose to hold the button, the message will automatically send once you release it. So, tap it if you prefer and tap the stop button when you are done. You can also listen to your recording before you send it with the preview option.

Although, you can unsend a message and redo it if you sent it mistakenly. The X icon in the text field while recording allows you to delete a recording. Send your message using the send icon, an arrow pointing upward.
