Huawei Delays Mate X Launch Again
Huawei’s Mate X release date has been delayed again. In a press conference in China, the company confirmed that there was no possibility of its folding phone coming in September. Earlier, Huawei had pushed the phone’s release date from June till September.
The Mate X’s chances of getting released before November is also now very unlikely. However, the report states that Huawei is giving assurance that the phone will be released sometime in the year. Although the reason for the delay was not stated, it could be that they may have some technical issues.
Huawei is also likely to take Samsung’s screen issues into consideration. So they are probably doing some extra ‘due diligence’ checks to avoid embarrassment. Samsung had a bad time when reviewers had complained about the screen of the Galaxy Fold just before it was to be released.
This new delay could also have something to do with the trade wars with the United States. Especially as its fate with Google’s Android and ARM chip makers is uncertain. It now seems as though the Galaxy Fold will be getting to the market sooner than the Mate X.
It looks like the foldable phone market won’t be facing stiff competition after all.
