How To Use Split-Screen On Your Android Device

Multitasking is one of the better things about devices these days. You don’t have to be stuck on one screen all the time with the split-screen for Android. The mode lets you view two apps simultaneously. You can check watch videos on Instagram while surfing Twitter or check your emails while using Twitter.

It is particularly useful when you are trying to type text from a site or a different app without going back and forth between two apps. This is a great way to maximise the functionality of your app.

It is important to keep in mind that not all apps support split-screen mode on the Android OS. Some games like Candy Crush are to be viewed in full-screen mode only. Also, camera mode and Netflix are also not compatible with the split screen, so you will need to find compatible apps.

To figure out if an app will work in split-screen mode, go to the recently used apps space and bring up the recently used apps. If an app has an icon with two small boxes on top of the other, it means that it is able to function in the split-screen mode. If it isn’t there, then it is not compatible.

Android Split Screen

We compiled these few steps to help you split the screen on your Android phone.

  1. First, you will need to select the icon for the app you will like to be on the top of the split screen from the multitasking menu.
  2. Then you select the second compatible app and tap the one you will like to add in the other bottom part of the screen.
  3. The bar between the apps can be moved to make one smaller than the other. Just press, hold and drag until it is in a perfect position.
  4. To turn the mode off, just press the black bar between the two apps. Then drag it to the top or bottom of the screen so that it can fill the whole display again.

Some of the most popular split-screen compatible apps are WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Play Store, Gmail and Chrome.
