How SocialCred works
First, you will have to visit the SocialCred website to access all of its tools. Then, it offers a search button where you can opt to search yourself by connecting to your Twitter, YouTube, or Instagram business accounts.
You can also search users you prefer from this button with any of the three platforms mentioned above. If you wish to compare two accounts, you can use the ‘compare’ button when you open the search option.
The platform shows how many followers the user you searched has. It also offers percentages of how people react to the user’s posts under three categories; positive, neutral, and negative. Additionally, it shows the user’s ratio of original posts to retweets as well as average engagement over a 30-day period.
In its about page, SocialCred describes itself as a “tool [that] calculates the online clout or influence of users. It offers badges to rank users based on their social media metrics. Thus, it has such rankings as Trend setter, A-lister, Big shot, socialite, JJC and so on.
It says that the rankings are awarded based on the number of followers, engagement rate and so on. Additionally, while SocialCred collects data from Google, Instagram and Twitter, it does not tamper with users’ accounts. It only collects publicly available data.
We found that Plaqad, a startup based in Lagos, had originally launched the clout tool, SocialCred in June 2020.
