No matter how many times some people are told to work smart, not hard, there’s still one common factor, “work”. Working is something everyone who wants an outcome does. It could be done for financial purposes or just to simply get acknowledged. Whatever the reason is, you still work — but you shouldn’t do this until you “drop”.
There needs to be a stop button to avoid failing health that can be caused by overworking of the body and mind. Therefore, in order to live longer by ensuring your health is in good shape, you should practice some working tips.
First, you need a lifestyle change. Ensure your lifestyle adapts to your working schedule by doing the following:
- Eat at the right time.
- Drink enough water.
- Exercise more.
- Socialise more.
- Enjoy your own company every now and then.
- Eat healthier meals.
- Remind yourself to take a break.
When it comes to taking breaks, people could get confused about when they should do so. Taking breaks imply that you should take care of yourself while you’re putting in the work. It’s that interval you take between working, and it could be long or short. What determines the duration is the time you take it.
Taking breaks between work
Long breaks: This can be taken ideally at night. Your body needs to get eight hours of sleep every night. However, with your schedule, it’s understandable that you can’t get that duration. Still, ensure you don’t get anything less than seven hours of uninterrupted sleep at night.
Short breaks: With a long rest at night, you might believe you’re capable of pulling 12 hours of work. Your body might deceive you into believing you’re capable. But after a while, the strain will tell on your health. You could lose concentration and make more careless mistakes. Therefore, you should catch periodic breaks in between work. For every 50 minutes of work, you should give yourself a 10-minute break. During the break, you can take a walk or listen to some music.
Don’t work yourself to a point of exhaustion. Once you realise you’re not being efficient in your task, that’s a sign that you need a break. Your health matters the most, and you should ensure you prolong your life the best way you can by starting now. Take a break!
