The clout is on a different level when you are don’t only boasting of a five-digit follower count but also an authentic Instagram verification tick too. That means you really floss different on the gram. It sort of means your friends will change too. It is only right. After all, you are now officially an Instagram celebrity.
According to Instagram,
“A verified badge is a check that appears next to an Instagram account’s name in search and on the profile. It means that Instagram has confirmed that an account is the authentic presence of the public figure, celebrity or global brand it represents.”
Before now, Instagram had all the say in who gets verifies on the app, but that has changed. Getting an Instagram verification is now easier than it used to be. If you have a brand that you would benefit from being authenticated on social media, then you want to read this all the way through.
On Instagram, personal and business accounts can get verified; you just need to apply. This makes your Instagram page more authentic, but that’s not all. It also means that you can add web links to your Instagram stories. At this point, it is important to keep in mind that an application does not mean automatic approval. Instagram reserves the right to give the verification at its discretion.
The instructions are pretty easy, and it has nothing to do with how many followers you have been able to garner on the app. But it might help to already have a good following already before applying.
First, open Instagram and go to your profile. Then go to settings, scroll down to the “Request Verification” tab and fill out the application form. You will need to wait a while to hear from Instagram after applying.
On the application, you will need to provide a few details. These include your Full name, your account name and the name you are known as (your aliases or stage name). It also includes your Account Category (the industry you work in), a photo ID for a personal account or a legal/business ID for a business account.
Upon submitting the application, Instagram will then review it and let you know if they approved or denied your application. Instagram says verification is free, and it will deny applications made through third-party apps. It says on the website,
“Once we review your request, you’ll receive a notification letting you know if your account has been verified or not. If your request is denied, you can submit a new request after 30 days.”
Instagram also reserves the right to “remove verified badges at any time and may take away your badge” for a different reason. They are if you sell, advertise of transfer the page, “use your profile picture, bio or name section to promote other services” or “attempt to verify your account through a third party.”
