How Google, Twitter, Facebook, Apple And Netflix Are Celebrating International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is a day dedicated to women’s rights movement. It is celebrated on the 8th of March every year. This year, we are looking at how top tech firms like Google, Twitter, Facebook, Apple and Netflix are celebrating it.

1. Google

To celebrate the International Women’s Day, Google Assistant will provide women’s history in response to the greeting: ‘happy International Women’s Day’. This will include facts about female prominent figures. But this is not all.

The search engine giant also has a Doodle to celebrate women’s rights movements. In partnership with a group of female motorcyclists, the Guardians, Google also filmed a documentary titled: Women Riders World Relay.

2. Twitter

Twitter launched a new emoji to celebrate International Women’s Day along with several hashtags. Some of the dedicated tags include #EveryWoman, #IWD and #InternationalWomensDay.

 

Also, Twitter Women official account will post prompts that will drive inspiring conversations about women. Twitter India is also celebrating five inspiring women on International Women’s Day. These women are Chinmayi Sripaada, Dutee Chand, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Shereen Bhan and Late Sushma Swaraj.

3. Facebook

Using the #SheMeansBusiness tag, the company ran a 24-hour live event. This allowed policy-makers, female business owners, entrepreneurs, NGOs and Leaders to use the live platform to tell inspiring women stories.

 

Facebook ran the event from 7th March to 8th March.

4. Netflix

Netflix International Women's Day 2020

 

The online streaming service in collaboration with UN Women compiled a collection titled “Because She Watched”. 55 women curated it and it includes documentaries, film and television series about women.

5. Apple

Apple is running women based event in all its retail stores for a full month. Also, the events spread into its App Store and other platforms. Anyone interested can also catch it on Apple TV, Apple Books and Apple Podcasts application.

 

In March — the International Women’s Day month — Apple’s retail stores will also host about 5,000 “She Creates” branded sessions. These sessions will highlight female leaders, artists, entrepreneurs and creators.
