Hackers Threaten To Release Cosmetic Surgery Pictures Of Hospital Group

Hackers have compromised the data of a large cosmetic surgery chain and are threatening to publish patients’ before and after photos, plus other details. The cosmetic surgery chain has a long list of celebrity endorsements and has confirmed the attack.

We can confirm that our IT systems have been subject to a data security breach. None of our patients’ payment card details have been compromised but at this stage, we understand that some of our patients’ personal data may have been accessed,” the group said in a statement.

The hacker, REvil, on its darknet webpage says the “intimate photos of customers” are “not a completely pleasant sight”. The group claims to have access to more than 900 gigabytes worth of patient photographs.

The hospital affected is known as the Transform Hospital Group according to the BBC. It claims to be the UK’s leading specialist weight loss and cosmetic surgery group. It had also previously promoted itself using celebrity endorsements.

Transform Hospital has 11 clinics specialising in bariatric weight loss surgery, b****t enlargements, nipple corrections, and nose adjustments.

It said it had informed all its customers about the cyber-attack by email. The Hospital group also plans to contact individuals who might have had more personal details compromised.

REvil, is also known as Sodinokibi, and is one of the most prolific ransomware groups. Its high-profile victims include currency exchange Travelex in recent times.
