In response to compromised prominent accounts on its platform, Twitter completely disabled the ability for many accounts to post new tweets. The targets of the hack which then tweeted a bitcoin scam include Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Joe Biden, among others.
Although Twitter didn’t give details about the block, it apparently only applied to verified accounts on the platform. Unverified accounts were still able to tweet normally, while verified accounts could only retweet existing tweets.
The social media platform put out a tweet confirming that some users may be unable to tweet. It also stated that password resets may be disabled while it works to correct the situation. An hour later, Twitter again put out a tweet saying that it was continuing to limit tweets, password resets, and “and some other account functionalities.”
