Luxury vehicle maker Maserati has teased features you should expect in its first electric car, the GranTurismo Folgore.
Initially announced in March, the upcoming EV will be a redesigned version of the company’s GranTurismo coupe. According to The Verge’s report, the car will be launched before 2025 and ahead of the Grecale electric SUV.
GranTurismo Folgore will be powered by 300kW permanent magnet electric motors and will be able to fast charge at 270kW. The charging capacity puts it on par with competitors like the Lucid Air and Porsche Taycan.
The Maserati EV engine is capable of going from 0mph to 62mph in 2.7 seconds, and it has a top speed of 199mph, at least on paper. In the power department, the car packs a 92.5kWh battery, of which 83kWh is usable.

When compared to the gas version, the GranTurismo Folgore EV has smaller trunk space. However, they look the same overall design-wise, apart from the charging port in the EV version and the tailpipes in the gas type.
Also, to make it more environmentally friendly, Maserati uses recycled ocean waste materials to design the seats and most of its interior features. And the dashboard is made up of screens and digital tools.
The company keeps some other vital details secret, like pricing and launch date, likely for an event in the future. This latest electric car is joining the car maker’s lineup of vehicles it plans to start selling in 2030.
