Governor Sanwo-Olu Encourages Lagosians To Celebrate Easter At Home

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has taken to Twitter to encourage Lagosians to stay at home during the Easter Celebration.


Governor Sanwo-Olu explained that the true meaning of Easter is sacrifice. As such residents of the state should show that sacrifice by staying at home and practising social distancing.


He explained that the news making rounds that the lockdown will be lifted due to Easter celebration are fake.

The first case of Coronavirus was confirmed in Nigeria on 28th February 2020. The index case was an Italian citizen who entered Nigeria on the 25th of February from Milan, Italy, for a brief business visit.


Coronavirus cases in Nigeria have since increased with Lagos being the state with the highest number of patients.


To this end, President Muhammadu Buhari declared a lockdown on Lagos, FCT and Ogun state during his national address on the 29th March 2020.


Presently, Lagos state has 158 confirmed cases, followed by FCT with 54 cases. 51 people have recovered, 39 of them in Lagos; while seven people have died, three of them also in Lagos.
