Samsung Galaxy S23 To Use Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2

Corning Inc. and Samsung Electronics are teaming up to bring you the toughest smartphone screen yet! Samsung’s next generation of Galaxy flagship smartphones, starting with Samsung Galaxy S23, will feature Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

According to a blog announcement, the new glass will be capable of handling drops on rough surfaces like concrete and asphalt, while preserving the sacrificing scratch resistance from the previous screen.

David Velasquez, Vice President and General Manager of Gorilla Glass, said that this durability is what customers want, especially Samsung customers, whose screen costs an arm and a le to replace when damaged.

“For over a decade, Gorilla Glass has been the go-to for tough cover materials and we’re excited to continue our partnership with Samsung to bring this latest innovation to their newest Galaxy smartphones,” Velasquez said.

Additionally, they are looking to bring sustainability to smartphones. Stephanie Choi, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Mobile experience Business at Samsung Electronics, said that they are focused on products that are better for the environment.

“That’s why Gorilla Glass Victus 2 has an Environmental Claim Validation for containing an average of 22% pre-consumer recycled content, as validated by Underwriters Laboratories,” Choi claimed in a statement.

Corning has been at the forefront of materials science for 170 years and continues to develop products that transform industries and enhance people’s lives. Its Gorilla Glass technology has featured in more than 8 billion devices by more than 45 major brands.

Gorilla Glass Victus 2 allows Corning continue to innovate and uncover new things in its Mobile Consumer Electronics business. The company hopes to enhance device performance, deliver new connectivity features, and support immersive user experiences with augmented reality and 3D sensing.
