The new privacy tool Google photos locked folder is now available for more android phones. This will safeguard and keep sensitive images, videos users wouldn’t want others to see.
Initially announced in September, the privacy feature was shipping with Pixel phones, with a promise for more Android phones “soon.” Android central site confirms that the Google photos locked folder is already available for some Samsung and OnePlus smartphones.
The privacy feature secures photos and videos by a passcode or biometrics-locked folder, they are not sent to the cloud. Google says that the privacy feature will be available to phones running Android 6 and higher.
Apple iOS users would have to wait till the early months of 2022 before they can get an update with the privacy feature for their photos app.
Material You Design was announced at Google’s Android Developer Summit, showing off new colour systems and visualizations. The company is making it easier for Android developers to use them in their apps.

Android 12, Google’s latest smartphone OS update will be available for select Pixel phones first, with support for other Android phones later.
Google has pushed the Android 12 source to Android Open Source Project (AOSP) since October 4 2021. It also says Android 12 will be available for Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo and Xiaomi smartphones later this year.
