Google Stadia controllers owners are not giving up just yet on the gadget, and although the platform it was intended for is shutting down in January 2023, they have found ways to use them elsewhere.
However, the methods still require a wired connection to an Android smartphone. You are good to go if you can overcome that tiny barrier.
One of the ways to connect the Stadia controller wirelessly, as we found reported by The Verge, is to use the steps created by YouTuber LateStageTech and modified by another creator, Benjaninja.
The method above, apart from requiring a wired connection to an Android, which then passes the signal to your PC, also causes the platform not to recognise the controller’s trigger buttons. This means that you cannot use this method to play a huge chunk of games.

The other way is one developed by engineer Parth Shah, which is quite technical and requires you to do a lot of work. In addition, it does not remove the wired-to-Android issue and is only available on PC. The only advantage of Shah’s method is that all the buttons work fine.
While these workarounds may seem like a lot of work for so little reward, it shows that using the Stadia controller on other platforms is possible. This means that as the last act before bowing out, Google Stadia engineers could find a straightforward solution for owners.
It is one way to avoid piling on the e-waste volume when Stadia goes completely dark in months. It could also be a source of revenue, selling the controllers as gadgets, although we doubt that this last reason would move the multi-trillion-dollar company.
