Google Rolls Out Big Pixel 6 Update For Fingerprint & Other App Issues

Google’s latest flagships Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are getting a significant update that fixes issues such as fingerprint, audio and others. This update will be rolling out to all Pixel 6 owners globally this week.

The tech company says that there is “general improvements for fingerprint sensor stability and performance.” Also, included in this December update is a fix for the screen flickering.

Also among other things, this update will unlock the full potential of its 23W wireless charging Pixel Stand 2 which already ships to customers. Google’s summary of its improvement is listed right here.

Among other issues affecting the Google Pixel 6 was its fingerprint scanner unresponsiveness. There have been reports from users frustratingly unlocking their smartphones with their fingerprints.

The tech company says the scanner utilizes enhanced security algorithms that take longer to verify sign in. This response was provided when a user on Twitter complained about the Pixel 6 scanner, Google replied to the tweet with the possible cause.  The scanner “take longer to verify or require more direct contact with the sensor.” was Google’s response.

Some Google Pixel 6 Pro smartphones are also having some display flickers. Google says that when the power button is pressed “with slight pressure but enough to turn on” causes the flicker.

Google says that to avoid the Pixel 6 Pro displaying residual light, users should hold the power button long enough to turn it on.

This latest software update hopefully fixes the fingerprint scanner and flickering issues. In the meantime, you can check if you have the update by going to your Pixel 6 settings, selecting “system” and clicking on “system update.”
