Google announced that it is discontinuing the mid-range Pixel 3A and 3A XL smartphones. The company confirmed to Android Police that no more stock will be made available on the Google store.

Google said that people who want to buy the Pixel 3A may still be able to purchase it through 3rd party retailers.

“Google Store has sold through its inventory and completed sales of Pixel 3a. For people who are still interested in buying Pixel 3a, the product is available from some partners while supplies last,” the company said in a statement.

On the official US Google Store, the Pixel 3a listing is “Unavailable” for purchase. The phone had been previously listed “Out of stock.” The change in the listing is usually to inform customers that the product reached the end of its retail life.

Google launched the product at the 2019 I/O Conference and received praise for its excellent camera and its low price. Its successor, the Pixel 4a, is still unavailable at the moment. However, rumours say that the phone will be launched later in 2020.

According to leaks, the Pixel 4A will have a 5.81-inch display and a 2340 x 1080 resolution. It is also said to run on a Snapdragon 730 processor, have a 12.2-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Other rumours include a fingerprint reader at the back and a headphone jack.

The COVID-19 pandemic is probably why the phone hasn’t been launched yet. The shelter in place guidelines has generally slowed down production as people were forced to stay in their houses.
