Google has announced a dark mode feature for its Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps on Android devices. The tech giant says all its android users will get the dark mode feature in the coming weeks.

Google adds that they can activate the dark mode theme on Docs, Sheets, or Slides by tweaking each app’s settings. To activate the new dark mode, go to: Menu > Settings > Theme > Dark, in each app.

The apps will, however, automatically use your system theme. This means if your device already has the dark mode theme enabled, the app will also automatically switch to the mode.

“We’re enhancing Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides on Android with Dark theme support. Dark theme will intelligently adjust the product interface and user-generated content in ways that can make it more usable in low-light environments and save battery life,” Google said announcing in a blog post.

You can also preview your document or sheet in the Light theme whilst dark mode is enabled by going to More > View in light theme.

The tech giant had promised in May 2019 to roll out the dark mode for its first-party apps. Since then, Google has slowly introduced the dark mode feature to various apps. The Google app, Gmail, and Google Calendar have all gotten the feature. However, some apps like Google Maps do not have the dark mode on iOS yet.

Dark mode has gained a lot of popularity from both Android and iOS users for its nice aesthetic in addition to battery-saving benefits.
