Google Is Facing A New Antitrust Lawsuit Over Its Google Play Store Fees

A new antitrust lawsuit has been filed against Google, state attorneys general are accusing the Alphabet-owned Company of abusing its control of the play store.

This was reported by Bloomberg, the lawsuit challenges Google’s policy on forcing Play Store app developers; to pay a 30% commission fee on sales from their apps.

 

Alphabet-owned company is facing three other federal antitrust lawsuits. For Advertising, the justice department has accused the company of numerous monopoly practices. To calm the situation, the company has reduced its fee to 15 percent for smaller developers.

Apple also reduced its small developer’s fee to 15% last year November, initial fees on the App store haunted its public image recently. Fortnite developer Epic Games sued Google as well as Apple; after the companies removed the gaming app from its App and play store respectively.

 

The company’s payment restrictions, according to Fortnite are a violation of both the Sherman Act and California’s Cartwright Act.

There are calls to break up Google, Lawmakers, the general public believes the company has too much monopoly and it’s too big for its size. Other big companies like Microsoft, Apple are in line to be broken up due to the monopoly they possess in the technology market.
