Google is equipping its Assistant with a new feature that will make it easier to donate money to important humanitarian and nonprofit organisations. The feature will debut with the Center for Policing Equity, an organisation that works to promote police transparency and accountability.
For now, only mobile phone users can access the feature shortcut. To activate the feature, simply say; “Hey Google, donate to racial justice,” to Google Assistant. Android users can do this directly but iOS users need an app and it is also available to those who own a dedicated card in Google Assistant’s daily Snapshot view.
The timing of the announcement coincides with the 57th anniversary of the Washington March. The march advocated the civil and economic rights of Black Americans.

Google says 100 percent of all the donations will go directly to the Center for Policing Equity. It also plans to expand the Google Assistant donation feature to support other humanitarian organisations and nonprofits in the coming weeks. However, Google has not yet announced the other organisations it will be working with.
Google had also previously promised $175 million to fight racial equality in June 2020.
