Ghanaian Pastor Sylvester Ofori Shoots His Wife Dead After Promising Her Brother He Would Kill Her

A US-based Ghanaian pastor by the name Sylvester Ofori has shot his wife dead. The shooting took place on Tuesday, September 7th outside of her workplace in Orlando, US.

But before then, he’d threatened to kill her. In a recently surfaced video, Pastor Ofori was seen grabbing the neck of Babara Tommey’s elder brother and promising him he was going to kill his sister.

He said: “Can I tell you something? If I don’t kill your sister, then I’m a fake.”

According to reports, Babara had come back to the house she lived with her estranged husband in the company of her elder brother and sister to retrieve some of her documents.

Ofori on seeing Babara pounced on her but was restrained by her brother. Both men got into a scuffle and Babara’s brother could be seen pining Ofori to the ground. He made the threats to her life as he exited the apartment.

The shooting

A CCTV footage on Tuesday 9 am September 8th showed Ofori, 35 shooting his wife Babara, 27 fatally. Babara was exiting the Navy Federal branch on Gardens Parks Boulevard, Orlando, where she worked as an assistant manager.


After she fell from the first shot, Ofori was seen standing over her and firing additional shots into her body. He shot her a total number of seven times before fleeing the scene.


Babara Tommey was pronounced dead at the Orlando Regional Medical Center. Orlando police officers arrested Ofori on the same night of the shooting after securing a search warrant for his apartment.


Babara Tommey and Sylvester Ofori got married in 2015. Reports say that she suffered abuse in the hands of Ofori since their union. She was finally convinced to quit the marriage by her family before the shooting.


Sylvester Ofori faces a first-degree murder charge and if convicted, faces the death penalty or imprisonment for life.
