Veteran actress and filmmaker Genevieve Nnaji have been invited into the prestigious Academy Award Membership of the Oscar Academy Awards.
She is among the 819 invitees chosen by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to join The Academy’s membership class.
The new invitees range from filmmakers, artists, and executives who’ve contributed in no small measure to theatrical motion pictures. They’re also persons who have made a name for themselves in the world of filmmaking. They were chosen from 68 countries and Nigeria’s representatives are Genevieve Nnaji and Akin Omotoso.
The new membership invitees are part of the Academy’s 2020 plan to include more women and bring on representatives from different races and ethnicities. This is to further promote inclusivity and diversity within the academy.
