Gaming Company Fortnite Servers Were Down For Five Hours

Gaming company Fortnite servers were down for five hours, leaving gamers stranded for quite some time. This actively affected its Epic Games battle royale shooters on December 29 2021. The game was telling many users “You do not have permission to play Fortnite” when they were trying to log in.

When gamers made complaints about the situation on social media, the company promptly responded. Its statement read as “Fortnite is currently unavailable and players are unable to log-in while we investigate an issue. We’ll provide more info when we have a solution to bring services back online.”

Epic Games started investigating the downtime around 11AM eastern time after which its servers completely went offline. The company promised to have a solution to the challenge, in a tweet shortly afterwards.

Around 3:10PM eastern time, the fortnite followed up with a tweet saying they were “continuing to work on a fix that will bring Fortnite back online and appreciate everyone’s patience.” 

Apprroximately 3 hours, 20 minutes later gamers were reporting that the Fortnite game was back and working again.  After which the its Twitter page confirmed the end of the outage. The gaming title is promising to share details next week on “what we’re doing to help you make up for lost time.”

Not only was the game not working at that time, there were also reports of the Epic Games Store having some issues. Could it be a surge of gameplay that brought the servers down? The company will be sharing more details soon.
