Netflix has followed up on its intention to launch games on its platform after it confirmed the hiring of Mike Verdu.
Coming in with loads of experience in the gaming sector, Mike Verdu has worked previously in Electronic Arts, Oculus, Zynga, and Atari. Netflix confirmed his appointment yesterday, He will be leading the gaming team of the video streaming platform.
The California-based company chief operating Greg Peters mentioned during a recent earnings call of the company’s gaming intent. “No doubt that games are going to be an important form of entertainment and an important sort of modality to deepen that fan experience.”

So, yeah if you watch movies from Netflix on your big screen or mobile screens, there is a high chance you are into gaming of some sort. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman who might know a thing or two about Netflix gaming intent mentioned the streaming service aims to offer games to Netflix subscribers “within next year.”
In addition to gaming, Netflix recently hired former Apple executive N’Jeri Eaton who now leads its podcast operations at the company. Netflix is making additions in gaming and podcast, to maintain its customer base.
It also will lure others to it as competition in the streaming services heightens.
