Getting rid of those pesky hair flakes called dandruff can be such a relief. This is because it’s such an attention seeker, with the itching and white flakes that spill all over your shoulder. It can be so embarrassing – yet weirdly satisfying – when you have to scratch those whitish or yellowish flakes in your scalp. If you have dandruff, it just means that there’s an increase in the way your skin sheds.
We understand why you want them rid of. Even if you haven’t had any problem with dandruff, it has a way of creeping up on you, so stay alert. There are many treatments for dandruff, both temporary and permanent. But it’s advisable to know permanent natural treatments you can use to keep the white itchy flakes at bay.
It is common among people who have a dry, flaky scalp. But this doesn’t mean there’s no solution; you just have to get to the root of the problem. The root cause could be your dry scalp. It could also be the result of a skin condition called seborrheic dermatitis. Other causes are psoriasis, eczema or an overgrowth of a yeast-like fungus called Malassezia.
Other causes are:
- Fungal infections
- Sensitivity to products used on hair
- A change in hormone levels
- A weak immune system
- Lack of nutrients
- Changes in the environment
If you’ve got dandruff, it doesn’t mean you have poor hygiene. Anyone who thinks that of you is being stereotypical. It’s true it can be embarrassing, but it can also be cured. You may need to determine other factors like your hair care habit. Your hair might be sensitive to a particular hair product or you may not be shampooing as often as you should for your hair type.
