Five Hidden WhatsApp Tips That You Should Start Using Now

With over five billion downloads, you would think that people would have discovered all there is to know about WhatsApp. How wrong you are; see these five WhatsApp tips that you need to start using now.

The tips listed below will ensure that you are more in control of WhatsApp than ever. They will improve utility and also give you time to do other things.

— Pin important chats

You will agree that not everyone you have on your WhatsApp contact list has the same level of importance. There are those who can leave their messages on ‘seen’, while there are those special ones that you cannot just wait to get back to.

Simply pin their chats to the top and you can easily access it every time you open the app. Also, when pinned, chats do not drop below new messages. This will make them the first contact you always see when you open WhatsApp. You can also pin group chats as well. To do this:

  • Long press the chat (on the list page).
  • Tap on the Pin icon that pops up at the top.

— WhatsApp Web

If you receive WhatsApp messages while using your PC, it can be stressful picking and dropping your smartphone at intervals. Reduce this to just having to switch between screens by using the WhatsApp Web on your computer.

With your PC go to WhatsApp Web and connect your phone. To do this, once you visit the website, a barcode appears.

Tap the three vertical dots on your WhatsApp mobile application chats page. You will see the WhatsApp Web option, follow the prompts and you are good to go.

— Who can add you to Groups?

Everyone. That is the default answer unless you change it in your settings. To do this, go to your WhatsApp settings and navigate to Account and then to Privacy. Find the Group’s option and select it, then you can opt to give only specific contacts the ability to add you to Groups.

With this, you can escape that High School Reunion group that has been causing you headaches.

— Notifications

If you have to get productive and you know that your WhatsApp is the primary source of distraction, turn off the notifications completely. You can find this option at the top of the Notification settings in the app.

— Mute Status

WhatsApp Statuses are great avenues to catch up on the lives of your contacts. It is amazing the number of things you can find out from people’s status, but it can become too much. Sometimes, some people post a lot of things that don’t interest you, this is why WhatsApp has given you the option to mute them.

To do this, you can tap on the three vertical dots when viewing that particular contact’s status and then tap on mute. They won’t know and they will keep seeing your own status unless of course, they have you muted as well.

With these five tips, you should be feeling more in control of your WhatsApp than ever before.
