This is the last day of the year 2019. This year, quite a number of female Nigerian celebrities took the entertainment industry by storm. These women broke the internet. Their stories went viral, whether it was good or bad publicity.

 

At some point in 2019, these women were some of the most searched people on Google. Below are five female celebrities that broke the internet in 2019.

 

1. Regina Daniels

This beautiful wife of billionaire lawyer Ned Nwoko broke the internet in 2019. At first, social media users were shocked by the display of wealth from this actress said to be in her early twenties. Regina first bought her mother a house in Asaba, Delta State. Not too long after, she bought a G-Wagon and a Rolex Wristwatch said to be worth millions of naira.

 

It was not too long, that our “social media investigators” found out that her sponsor was politician Ned Nwoko who she was dating at the time. In May 2019, they had their traditional wedding ceremony in Idumuje Ugboko, Delta State. Regina then became a household name in Nigeria. Comedians even used her to crack jokes; this was because of the age difference between 19-year-old Regina and 59-year-old Ned Nwoko.

 

However, Regina has been able to live above all of this publicity. In an interview with Daddy Freeze, she revealed that she loves her husband and calls him “baby”. Nigerians have since let her issue rest and allowed her to enjoy her married life in peace.

 

2. Tonto Dikeh

Call her Nollywood’s “Drama Queen”, Tonto Dikeh is one celebrity that loves being in the news. In 2019, she broke the internet when she called her ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill, a “40 Seconds Man” while being interviewed by Daddy Freeze.

 

Tonto also stated that she paid her bride price and takes care of their son. This video immediately went viral on the internet. Her YouTube page also got a lot of subscribers, as Nigerians were interested in all of the juicy details of her failed marriage.

 

The latest story on Tonto Dikeh states that her husband is in court to contest the custody of their son whom she allegedly abandoned for the past five weeks.

3. Tacha

Natacha Akide, aka “No Leave No Transfer”, took the internet by storm when she participated in BBNaija Season 4 tagged “Pepperdem”. Tacha was known to have quarrelled with almost every housemate in the house. She bragged about staying in the reality show until the last day. However, she was disqualified a week to the end of the show for fighting with Mercy, who eventually emerged the winner.

 

Tacha is one of the few ex-housemates who is verified on Twitter. She also boasts of being the only ex-housemate followed by Twitter’s CEO, Jack Dorsey. She trends on daily on Twitter, as her fans, known as “Titans”, are a strong force determined to keep their favourite ex-housemate in the spotlight.

 

4. Mercy

Mercy Eke, aka “Queen of the highlights” and “Mercy Lambo”, won the BBNaija reality show. She became popular on the internet for her s*xy outfits for the Saturday night shows and her very attractive body. She got into a relationship with fellow housemate Ike while on the reality show. Their relationship brought drama to the show, and fans couldn’t get enough of them.

 

On leaving the house, Mercy continued to trend on the internet, as she bought a duplex, and has continued to bag numerous endorsement deals.

 

5. Busola Dakolo

Busola Dakolo broke the internet in June while in an interview with Red TV’s Jide Chideonwo. She revealed that she was r*ped by Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, the senior pastor of Common Wealth Of Zion Assembly (COZA). The interview immediately went viral, and celebrities called out the man of God to step down. The hashtags #PastorStepDown and #IStandWithBusola were all over the internet.

 

The case lingered on until it was dismissed in November. Justice Othman A. Musa gave the judgment. He held that the case amounted to injustice and an abuse of judicial process. The judge also added that the case is empty and purely sentimental.
