Firefox Relay now offers you a virtual phone number, to help you avoid spam calls and messages, as an upgrade on its privacy services.

To do this, the service generates a phone number that you can use to register on platforms that you don’t trust. That way, if they begin sending unwanted messages or even share it with others, at least, you can block the calls and texts. Or, even block the burner number entirely.

It offers 50 minutes of incoming calls and 75 text messages every moth. However, you can’t place outgoing calls or send texts to just about anyone with the virtual number, instead, you can only reply to texts from your last sender.

Mozilla product manager Tony Amaral-Cinotto said that Firefox Relay is working on opening access to dial or text any number you want with the virtual phone it is offering. It already allows users on its virtual email service to send messages to just about anyone.

The virtual phone service is priced at $4.99 a month ($3.99 if you pay for an entire year upfront), which is quite more expensive than the existing email service which costs $1.99 a month. Although, the phone service comes with email masking as well.

Also, it is only available to people in the US and Canada for now, and you only get one relay phone unlike the ability to generate multiple burner email addresses that you can use on its other privacy feature.
