If asked, some people would proudly say their favourite hobby is to sleep. Sadly, not everyone is lucky enough to catch a shut eye for the required number of times without disturbance.
How much sleep do you need?
You need to get the required hours of sleep to feel good and stay healthy. According to a two-year research done by the National Sleep Foundation, your snooze requirement can be classified according to your age.

- Young adults, 18-25 years: 7-9 hours
- Teenagers, 14-17 years: 8-10 hours
- School-age children, 6-13 years: 9-11 hours
- Preschool children, 3-5 years: 10-13 hours
- Toddlers, 1-2 years: 11-14 hours
- Infants, 4-11 months: 12-15 hours
- Newborns, 0-3 months: 14-17 hours
Effects of sleep deprivation
When deprived, the effect is often more serious than expected. It can lower your s*x drive, weaken your immune system, cause depression and lead to weight gain. Even worse, you may increase your risk of certain cancers, diabetes and even car accidents.
