Internet sensation Elsa Majimbo was recently a guest on Naomi Campbell’s show ” No Filter”.
During the conversation, the Kenyan Journalism student turned comedienne said many connected with her jokes during the lockdown.
“Many people have gone through rough patches and I feel like people need to laugh, and people need to remember to have joy.”
Additionally, she said; “I used to make the videos for me and I would laugh. It made me so happy. Then after some time, people were like she is so funny. I always felt I was funny to myself, I did not think I was funny to other people.”
She however received numerous positive reviews that spurred her on to do more. American model Chrisy Tiegen told Majimbo that her style of comedy was unique and would take her places.

When Naomi asked her about her trademark sunglasses, Majimbo explained, “The first glasses I had, I bought them off the streets of Nairobi. Those are the ones I used in my videos to date. I feel like that is where I started from and that is what I want to hold on to.”
Naomi asked her if she feels supported by Kenyans, Elsa Majimbo said;
“No. Not really. Kenya is my home. you get an attachment to your home but I will say the place that has brought me down the most is Kenya. I feel some of them did but some of them did put me down a lot. Here is a place where there is a lot of colourism. I was made to feel like, you know since you are darker, I was less pretty, I had fewer chances of succeeding.”
