Elon Musk during the weekend announced that the Berlin Gigafactory will begin car production by the end of the year. This announcement at the German factory while Elon was held a “Giga-Fest” event for residents to tour the factory. There was music, free rides in tesla cars and talks.
Interestingly, despite Elon Musk vision for the Berlin factory, it isn’t approved by local authorities for use yet. The factory final completion has been delayed for months due to environmental concerns about its effect on Wildlife and water around the area.
Musk says Tesla will plant more trees than it cut down during the building of the factory and look to keep its water usage to a minimum. Tesla is targeting around 5,000 to 10,000 weekly car production at the factory according to Bloomberg.
The company intends to start production at the end of the year with its Model Y cars. After He(Musk) described the German factory as a “machine that builds the machine”. Clearly, this is a next-level rivalry with the likes of Mercedes and Volkswagen.

Volkswagen for example intends to dedicate its Zwickau in Germany solely for electric car production. The plant currently churns out the ID 3 AND ID 4 Volkswagen electric cars.
Elon Musk claims that the Tesla’s Berlin factory soon production shows that local approval is not far off. Once this factory is up and functional, together with the factories in China and Texas, electric car dominance is almost certain.
