According to sources privy to the matter, Elon Musk allegedly had an affair with Nicole Shanahan, the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin. The Wall Street Journal broke the news on Sunday.
The affair is said to have been the last straw in the couple’s otherwise strained marriage and led to their filing for divorce. Although they had already been separated, Nicole Shanahan and her husband still lived together with their daughter.
Sources claim that the affair occurred at the December 2021 Art Basel event in Miami, just after the Tesla boss and his girlfriend, Grimes, had broken up.
This news adds to the growing list of Elon Musk’s somewhat complicated love life. Already, there was news that he fathered twins with Shivon Zills, a top executive at his company Neuralink when she was still working for him at Tesla.

Also, not long before this revelation, he was involved in a scandal after reports emerged that SpaceX paid a former employee hush money to cover his indiscretion. Again, during the messy divorce case of Amber Heard and her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, it was reported that Musk dated her on and off for two years, between 2016 and 2018.
As The Verge further explains, it is not as if Sergey Brin himself is a saint. He, too, has a reputation of indecency, including relationships with employees, famously including Google Glass marketing manager Amanda Rosenberg.
However, the affair is said to have ruined the relationship that he and Musk had, which started in the late 2000s. Brin had helped him out of a tight spot with a $500,000 funding gift to save Tesla during the 2008 recession. Musk has likely paid back but to show his appreciation, and he gave out the first ever Model X to the Google co-founder.
Now, close sources say that the two are not even speaking to one another. Meanwhile, Shanahan is after some portion of Brin’s wealth, which is over $100 billion as of July 2022.
