Dr. Dre Set For A Complete Sale Of His Music For $200M

Rapper and music producer Dr. Dre is reportedly close to finalizing a deal to sell the master recordings and some of his royalties for more than $200 million.

According to Billboard, the music tycoon is close to finalizing two separate agreements with Shamrock Holdings and Universal Music Group to sell up some of his music-related properties.

As part of the Shamrock Agreement, Dr. Dre may sell his artist royalties from two of his solo albums, his portion of the N.W.A. artist royalties, as well as his producer royalties and the writer’s share of the songs for which he does not hold the publication rights.
It’s rumored that Dre will sell the master recording of his debut solo album, “The Chronic,” as well as a portion of the Kendrick Lamar catalog as part of the Universal transaction.

Billboard noted that these transactions as mostly “passive income streams” that generate about $10 million annually,

and he’s not selling his ownership stake in his record label, Aftermath.

Insiders also told TMZ that the actual selling price is tens of millions of dollars

higher than the $200 million figure Billboard is reporting.

Meanwhile in 2021, the American rapper and producer, finalised his divorce from his estranged wife Nicole Young.

Nicole Young had filed for divorce seeking to end their marriage in 2020

and their divorce battle has raged on since then.

Young filed a separate lawsuit to challenge the prenup she signed shortly before their marriage. In the suit, she alleged she was pressured to sign the prenup by Dre and his legal team.

The former couple got married in May 1996, and have two children together. A 19-year-old daughter Truly and a 23-year-old son Truice.
